Connection of MultiPOS devices

How to connect one or several devices in MultiPOS ?

Connecting multiple devices with each other in MultiPOS allows you to synchronise all the current tickets on each device.
Thanks to this functionality, you can start a ticket on one device, continue it on another and cash it on a third device.
It’s the perfect solution if your shop or restaurant gets several cash registers or order taking pads.
In this case and if you manage your cash float, it will be common to all devices.

This functionality is limited to connecting 5 devices simultaneously.
As a first step, you need to define what will be the “master” / main device, the one that will centralize all the connections. This is often the central or main cash register.

To keep the system smooth and efficient, make sure this device meets the minimum requirements below :

Minimum configuration required for a master or connected device :

Processor : 1.6 GHz Octo-core
RAM : 2 Go
Available memory space : 1 Go
Minimum Android version : Android 5.0

Ideally, you need to set a static IP address on the master / main device so that it can not change and that the connected devices connection remains stable.
If you set a static IP address on the master device, you must assign it an unused IP address outside the DHCP range of your Wifi network to avoid any IP address conflict.

Wifi configuration :

All the devices must be connected to the same Wifi network.
You must also verify that your Wifi connection is powerful enough to cover the entire surface on which you will use your devices, in order to avoid the disconnections of connected devices.
That’s why we advise you to install a dedicated Wifi router, which will keep pace and will offer you a Wifi coverage of a better quality than your Internet box.

Master / Main cash register configuration :

From the main screen :
  1. Click on Settings
  2. Tick “Enable data sharing
  3. Close and restart the application
  4. Once the application is restarted, click on MultiPOS on the left menu of the main screen

Your main cash register is now configured and you can connect your connected devices.

Connection of a connected device :

There are two ways of connection depending on your device.
The first one consists in scanning the visible QR code on the master cash register using the camera of your connected device.
The second one, if your connected device doesn’t have a camera, is to manually enter the IP address and port of your main cash register on your connected device.

· Connection using QR Code
(only if there is a camera on your device, otherwise go to the next section)

From the login screen of the app :
  1. Click on the MultiPOS tab
  2. Click on the barcode button and allow the app to take photos, then the camera opens
  3. Scan the master cash register QR Code

Your connected device is connecting and then starts synchronisation.

· Connection by manual entry of the IP address :

From the login screen of the app :
  1. Click on the MultiPOS tab
  2. Enter the IP address of the master cash register
This information is available at the top of the MultiPOS screen of the master cash register (usual format 192.168.1.XXX or 192.168.0.XXX)
  3. Enter the port number of the master cash register
This information is available at the top of the MultiPOS screen of the master cash register (by default : 9003)
  4. Click on Login

Your connected device is connecting and then starts synchronisation.

Finalizing the configuration of a connected device :

· Configuration of printers on your connected devices :

Remote printer (most common case) :

A remote printer is a printer that is already configured on the master cash register so you can import its configuration in 2 clicks.
If your connected device uses the same printers than your master cash register, you don’t need to reconfigure the printer from scratch, here is how to do :

From the main screen of the connected device :
  1. Click on Printers at the top-right corner of the screen
  2. Click on Add or +
  3. Click on Remote printer
  4. Select the printer name to import

It’s done, your printer is now configured. You can start again this operation if several printers are configured on your master cash register.

Local printer :

A local printer is a printer that is used on only one connected device, useful if the receipts of your connected device must be printed on another printer than the one of the master cash register. Here is how to do :

From the main screen of the connected device :
  1. Click on Printers at the top-right corner of the screen
  2. Click on Add or +
  3. Click on Local printer and configure your printer like a standard printer

If you don’t know how to configure a standard printer, click here : Ethernet printers / Bluetooth printers
It’s done, your printer is now configured. You can start again this operation if several printers are configured on your master cash register.

· General settings :

We recommend you to enter the same settings as those registered on the master cash register.
Once you have done this, you can use all your devices, your tickets will be accessible from any device.

Disconnection of a connected device :

If you have to disconnect a connected device from the MultiPOS, here’s how to do this :

From the main screen of the connected device :
  1. Click on the three dots at the top-right corner of the main screen
  2. Click on Disconnection / Logout

Your device is now disconnected and you can connect a new device to your main Cash register.
